MANAGEMENT APTITUDE TEST (MAT)
Q. When and how many times is MAT conducted each year?
A. MAT is usually conducted 4 times each year in February, May,
September and December.
Q: What are the qualifications &
percentage needed for MAT?
A. The minimum qualification for appearing in MAT is graduation in any
discipline from any recognised University or equivalent recognised
degree. A final year student in any undergraduate discipline (such as
B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc) can also appear provisionally.
Usually, there is a minimum percentage requirement in graduation, which
is different for different Management Institutes / Universities. For
this refer to the prospectus of the particular Management Institute /
University.
Q. How many Management
Institutes participate in MAT?
Q. Does this list keep changing or does it remain the same?
A. The number of participating MIs may vary from MAT to MAT. The list of
various MIs / Universities is available in the MAT bulletin along with
the admission notification.
Q. Are all the MIs /
Universities recognised by AICTE?
A. All MIs participating in MAT are either AICTE approved or affiliated
to some University. For further information you may contact the MIs /
Universities of your choice.
Q. Does every MI / University
have the same admission criteria?

Q. What about the total fee?
A. The admission criteria for every institute is different. For detailed
information please refer the respective brochures.
Q. What is the cost of the MAT
Bulletin?
A. At present the cost of the MAT Bulletin is Rs. 650/- by cash across
the AIMA, New Delhi counter / select UTI Bank branches / AIMA Nodal
Centres all over India and Rs. 690/- against Demand Draft (DD) by post.
Q: Who should the Demand Draft
be in favour of?
A. The Demand Draft should be in favor of "AIMA-CMS", payable at New
Delhi.
Q: What is the validity of MAT
score?
A. The MAT score is valid for that particular session for most MIs, but
for AIMA-CME’s PGDM & PGDITM programmes, the score is valid for one
year.
Q: What is the last date of
submitting the completed MAT OMR Form?
A. The last date for submission is mentioned in the MAT Bulletin. The
last date also appears in the notification released by AIMA in various
national and regional newspapers.
Q. Does the applicant have to
buy the prospectus of the MIs / Universities opted?
A. For applying to MIs / Universities it is suggested that the
respective prospectus be bought so the candidate has full information on
the MIs / Universities.
Q. Is the MAT held all over
India? What about candidates living abroad? Can they apply for the MAT?
A. The MAT is conducted in all major cities in India and in leading
cities abroad. For further clarification, see the MAT Bulletin or
contact us.
Q. Do we get a separate Admit
Card for appearing in the MAT?
A. The candidate has to download his/her Admit Card from the AIMA
website 7 days before the Test Date using the Registration Form Number.
No separate Admit Card is mailed to candidate.
Q. Is there any age bar for the
MAT?
A. No.
Q: Is any job experience
required to appear for the MAT?
A. No.
Q. Is appearing in the MAT
necessary for getting admission into PGDM / MBA programmes?
A. Yes, MAT is necessary for admission into PGDM / equivalent programmes
offered by AIMA or MIs / Universities who participate in it.
Q. What is the nature of the
MAT?
A. The MAT is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers. It is
designed to measure a person’s general aptitudes as the following table
indicates:
